If your pole and reel say max limit 10lbs, try 20lbs test line. Use the 50% as drag 3 as your base as to if you will break your pole or not, then go from there. When i used 12lbs test line, i could reel in a fish at 2 drag, if a fish was under 23 lbs i could use drag 3 but with a high risk of it breaking the line. i would be able to pull in a fish of this size, but it would be a back and forth fight. so a 30 lbs fish at this setting would create a tension of 15lbs.
